CAPSARIUS, (from capsa, fatchel), in antiquity, a servant who attended the Roman youth to school, carrying a fatchel with their books in it, sometimes also called librarius.
CAPSARIUS was also an attendant at the baths to whom persons committed the keeping of their clothes.
