ICONOLATRE, or ICONOLATERS (from icon and latreus "I worship," or iconoduli (from icon and doulos "I serve"), those who worship images: A name which the Iconoclasts give to those of the Romish communion, on account of their adoring images, and of rendering to them the worship only due to God.
