HYPERBATON, strictly so called, is a long retention of the verb which completes the sentence, as in the following example from Virgil:
Inter ea Reges: ingenti mole Latinus
Quadrifugo volutur curru, cui tempora circum
Aurati bis sex radii fulgentia cingunt,
Solis avi specimen: bigis it Turnus in albis,
Bina manu lato crispans hastilia ferro:
Hinc Pater Aeneas, Romanae stirpis origo,
Sidereos flagrant clypeo et caelestibus armis;
Et juxta Aescanius, magna spes altera Romae:
Procedant castris.
