LEITRIM, the shire town of the county of that name, is pleasantly situated on the banks of the river Shannon, about 80 miles from Dublin; and appears to have been formerly a place of some note. St Mac Liegus, son of Cernac, was bishop here; and his festival is observed on the 8th of February.
