ASTRAGALOMANCY, a species of divination performed by throwing small pieces, with marks corresponding to the letters of the alphabet; the accidental disposition of which formed the answer required. This kind of divination was practised in a temple of Hercules, in Achaia. The word is derived from astragalos, and mania, divination.
