BABYLONICA TEXTA, a rich sort of weavings, or hangings, denominated from the city Babylon, where the practice of interweaving divers colours in their hangings first obtained. Hence also Babylonian garments, Babylonian skins, Babylonian carpets, hangings, &c. Babylonian solana, coverings laid over couches, &c. painted with gold, purple, and other colours.
