LYMINGTON, a borough town of Hampshire in
England, 97 miles south-west of London. It stands
about a mile from the channel running between the
main land and the Isle of Wight; and has a harbour
for vessels of considerable burden. The tide flows near
a mile above the town. It has a market on Satur-
days, and two fairs in the year: and sends two mem-
bers to parliament.
