¶ The Scots Magazine, and Edinburgh Literary Miscellany, is published regularly on the first day of each month. It consists of Original Correspondence on various subjects—Memoirs and Anecdotes of distinguished characters, particularly Scotsmen—Scottish Antiquities—Accounts of Improvements and New Institutions—Manners of Nations—Literary Intelligence—With an account of New Discoveries in the Arts and Sciences, and a copious Monthly Register, which may be confidently referred to as an authentic and valuable record of the public, as well as of every important domestic occurrence of the day. Each Number is embellished with an engraved View of some remarkable place in Scotland.
