CLERVAUX, one of the most celebrated and finest abbeys of France, in Champagne, five miles from Bar-sur-Aube, and seated in a valley surrounded with woods and mountains. It is the chief of the Cistercian order. Here is the famous Tun of St Bernard, which will hold 800 tons of wine. Near this abbey is a small town.
