In Law, a writ that lies for the choice of a verderor, where any of the verderors of the forest are dead, or removed from their offices. This writ is directed to the sheriff, and the verderor is to be elected by the freeholders of the county, in the same manner as coroners. New Nat. Brev. 366.
ELECTION is also the state of a person who is left to his own free will, to take or do either one thing or another, which he pleases. See LIBERTY.
