HOLDERNESS, a diſtrict of the eaſt riding of Yorkſhire, having the German ſea on the eaſt, and the Humber on the ſouth. This diſtrict is remarkable for its rich and a large breed of horned cattle and horſes. It had the title of an earldom, now extinct.
