GLARIS, one of the cantons of Switzerland, is
bounded on the east, partly by the Grisons, and partly by the territory of Sargans; on the north, by the bailiwick of Gaer, and by the lake Wahlestatt; on the east, by the canton of Schwitz; and on the south, by part of the canton of Uri, and part of the league of the Grisons. It is a mountainous country, being entirely within the Alps.
