GAULOS, in Ancient Geography, a small island of Sicily, in the African sea, adjoining to Melite or Malta; with commodious harbours; a colony of Phœnicians, with a cognominal town. Gaulonite, the people, (Inscription). Now called Gozo, five miles to the west of Malta.
