ILIAC PASSION, a violent and dangerous kind of colic, which takes its name from the intestine ilion, on account of its being usually affected in this distemper; or perhaps from the Greek verb idōn, to wind or twist; and hence also it is by the Latins called volvulus. See MEDICINE.
