KONIGSLUTTER, a city of the duchy of Brunswick,
in Germany, the capital of a circle of the same name. It
is on the river Lutter, is walled, and contains a palace of
the prince, two churches, in one of which the minster is
an ancient monument to the memory of the Emperor Lo-
thario the Second and his empress. It contains 338
houses, and 2850 inhabitants, who carry on several exten-
sive distilleries, and make linen and other cloths.
