JILLIFREY, a town of Africa, situated on the southern bank of the Gambia, near the mouth of that river. Although not the capital, it is the chief place of trade of the flourishing little kingdom of Barra; and the king has here a custom-house, by which duties on vessels passing up and down the river are levied.
