AMELIA Isle, on the coast of East Florida, lies about seven leagues north of St. Augustin, and very near Talbot Island on the south, at the mouth of St. John's river. It is 13 miles long and two broad, is very fertile, and has an excellent harbour. Its north end lies opposite to Cumberland Island, between which and Amelia Isle is the entry into St. Mary's river, in long. 67. 23. W. lat. 30. 52. N.
