ÆGIDA, now Capo d'Istria, the principal town on the north of the territory of Istria, situated in a little island, joined to the land by a bridge. In an inscription it is called Ægidis Insula. Long. 14. 20. E. Lat. 45. 50. N. It was afterwards called Justinopolis, after the emperor Justinus.
