AQUILA, a city of the kingdom of Naples, and chief of the province Abruzzo Ulteriore Second. It is situated on the Aterno, in the vale of Aquila and Pescara. It has no less than 24 parish and 29 monastic churches, besides the cathedral, though the population in 1818 amounted only to 7525 persons. There are some manufactures of linen
