ARETOLOGI, in Antiquity, a sort of philosophers, chiefly of the Cynic or Stoic school, who frequented the tables of great men, and entertained them in their banquets with disputations on virtue, vice, and other popular topics. These are sometimes also denominated Circulator Philosophi.
