RECANATI, a city of Italy, in the delegation of Macerata, in the papal dominions. It is situated on a mountain overlooking the Adriatic Sea. It is the seat of a bishop in union with the city of Loreto, and has a cathedral, eight parish churches, eight monasteries, and four nunneries.
