RUBIN, or ROBOAN, a small island in the Red Sea, at the Straits of Babelmandel, separated from the continent by a channel not above a stone-cast in breadth, which may be forded at low water. Here pilots are taken in for the voyage up the Red Sea, and to its different ports.
