English BIBLES. The first English Bible we read of is that mentioned by Usher as having been translated in 1290. The next is that which was translated by J. Wickliffe about the year 1360, the original manuscript of which is still extant. J. de Trevisa, who died about the year 1398, is also said to have translated the whole Bible.
