BIGAN, an arrondissement of the department of the Gard, in France, 550 square miles in extent, and containing ten cantons and eighty-seven communes, with 60,349 inhabitants. The capital, a market-town of the same name, stands on the river Acre, and contains a population of 3980 persons.
