AUGUSTOW, a city, the capital of the woivodship of that name, on the river Netta, near an extensive lake. It contains 1980 inhabitants, of whom one quarter are Jews, who have much trade with Russia in horses and cattle. It is situated in long. 22. 53. 10. E. and lat. 53. 49. 30. N.
