BLACK-Forest, a forest of Germany, in Suabia, running from north to south between Ortnau, Brisgau, part of Wirtemberg, and the principality of Furstenburg, towards the source of the Danube, as far as the Rhine above Basel. It is part of the ancient Hercynian forest.
