ly fortified, being defended by two citadels. The city is divided by canals into nine quarters. It contains fifteen churches, two hospitals, a house of industry, an arsenal, and barracks for 3000 troops. It is a great manufacturing place, especially for linen cloth. The inhabitants are 14,500.
