BOPAL, an extensive town of Hindostan, in the province of Malwah, surrounded with a stone wall, on the outside of which is a large gunge or mart, with wide and straight streets. On a rising ground to the south-west of the town is a fort called Futtehgur, built on a solid rock, and surrounded with square towers. Under the walls of the fort is a tank or pond, six miles in length. The town and territory of Bopal are occupied by a colony of Patans. Long. 71. 21. E. Lat. 23. 10. N.
