BATHGATE, a town and parish of Scotland, in the county of Linlithgow, on the great road between Edinburgh and Glasgow. Lime-stone, coal, and iron-stone, abound in the neighbourhood. It is eighteen miles west of Edinburgh. The population is 2919.
