EMMERICH, a city of the Prussian Rhenish province of Julieh-Cleeves, in the circle of Rees. It stands on the river Rhine, and contains two Catholic, a Lutheran, a Calvinist, and a Mennonite church, with 980 houses and 4450 inhabitants.
