DIARTHROSIS, in Anatomy, a kind of articulation or juncture of the bones, which, being pretty lax, affords room for a manifest motion. The word comes from dia, and arthros, juncture. It is opposed to synarthrosis, in which the articulation is so close that there is no sensible motion at all.
