MARDEN, a town of the county of Kent, in the lathe of Scray, and hundred of its own name, forty-one miles from London. It stands on the river Twist, and was formerly more considerable, having had a market, which is now discontinued. The population amounted in 1801 to 1660, in 1811 to 1804, in 1821 to 2051, and in 1831 to 2109.
