MARY Salome, the sister of the Virgin Mary, and mother of James and Joses, and Simon and Jutas. She is the same who is elsewhere called the wife of Cleophas (John, xix. 25), or Alphaeus, these two being only different modes of Grecising the Hebrew חולפאי, Chulpai.
