CAMPOBASSO, a city of Italy, the capital of the province Molise. It is situated on the ascent of a high mountain, and forms a kind of amphitheatre round it. It is fortified, and contains two churches, and 7660 inhabitants, who are employed chiefly in making cutlery ware. It is in a fertile district, which supplies much corn to commerce.
