CANCAR, CANCAO, PONTIAMES, a sea-port of Cambodia, situated on a river which discharges itself into the sea, on the eastern coast of Siam. It was attacked by the Siamese in 1717, and since that period it has fallen into decay. There still reside here many Chinese, who export betel-nut, various valuable kinds of wood, metals, cotton, and other articles, and import tea, cutlery, wearing apparel, and other manufactures.
