CARSE OF FALKIRK, The, stretches for nearly ten miles in a westerly direction, from about Borrowstownness to Airth, along the south shore of the Frith of Forth. Its breadth varies from one to two miles. On the margin of the sea the land is rich and productive, and rises in well-
se of cultivated acclivities on the south. It is broadest below
Falkirk, where it is irrigated by the placid waters of the
Carron.
