CASERTA-NOVA, a city of Italy, in the province Terra di Lavoro, of the kingdom of Naples. It is situated on a plain highly cultivated. The rural palace of the king at this place is one of the most splendid and extensive in Europe, and has a magnificent collection of paintings, with a commodious theatre. In the park are the water-works for conveying the stream from the mountains of Taburno. The city contains 4500 inhabitants.
