GAD, in Ancient Geography, a district of the Transjordan Palestine, situated between Gilead and the kingdom of Bashan on the north, and the kingdom of the Amorites on the south, having the Jordan on the west, and bounded by various tribes on the east. It is so called from a tribe of that name.
