GENEVOIS, a province of Savoy, with the title of dukedom, in the kingdom of Sardinia, and on the borders of Switzerland. It extends over 682 square miles, contains three cities, and 147 towns and villages, with 69,867 inhabitants. By the congress of Vienna this province, as well as those of Chablais, Faucigny, and the upper part of Chambery, wherein Rumilly is situated, are declared to be for ever neutral territories. The capital of the province is Annecy.
