GERMAIN-EN-LAYE, St. Germanicus. Brahmapootra. It occupied formerly a very large space, every house being surrounded by a garden, and the rajah's palace being encompassed by a stockade of bamboos and a wet ditch; so that the city covered a space of nearly ten miles.
