GORLESTON, a village, or rather town, of the county of Suffolk, in the hundred of Mutford and Lothingland, 18 miles from London. It may be viewed as a suburb to the town of Yarmouth in Norfolk, from which it is separated only by a bridge over the river Yare. The population amounted in 1801 to 1728, in 1811 to 1814, in 1821 to 1928, and in 1831 to 2116.
