PATTAN, a town of Hindustan, in the province of Aurungabad, belonging to the nizam, thirty-eight miles southwest of Aurungabad. Long. 75. 33. E. Lat. 19. 29. N. It is the chief town of a district of the same name, in the province of Gujerat, situated about the 24th degree of north latitude. The country is but thinly inhabited, and is much exposed to the ravages of the numerous predatory tribes in this quarter of Gujerat. It contains the ancient capital of Gujerat, and is bounded on the west by the great salt lake called the Runn.
