PEDAGOGUE, or PÆDAGOGUE, a tutor or master, to whom is committed the discipline and direction of a scholar, to be instructed in grammar and other arts. The word is formed from the Greek παίδων ἀγωγός, puerorum ductor, or leader of boys.
