CORIA, a town of Spain, in the province of Estremadura. It is situated on the banks of the river Alagos, which runs into the Tagus. The plain on which it is built is beautiful and fertile, and yields abundance of wine and vinegar from its vineyards, which are very extensive. It is situated in long. 6. 16. W. and in lat. 39. 36. N. It contains an old castle, two churches, two monasteries, two hospitals, and 4500 inhabitants. It has a bishop.
