MONTE MAGGIORE, a town of the kingdom of Naples, in the island of Sicily, and province of Mazzara, thirty-six miles from Palermo. It is situated on the river Torto, on the declivity of a fine mountain, and is moderately healthy. It contains 6100 inhabitants.
