MONZA, a city of Italy, in the delegation of the Austrian province of Milan. It stands on the river Lambro. There is here a magnificent imperial palace and park, with a menagerie; and it contains six churches, one of them an abbey. The celebrated iron crown of the ancient kings of Lombardy was formerly preserved here. Monza contains 5750 inhabitants, who find employment chiefly in making silk; but partly also from tanneries and hat making. Long. 9. 11. 51. E. Lat. 45. 34. 31. N.
