MUGGLETONIANS, a religious sect which arose in England about the year 1657, and were so denominated from their leader Lodowick Muggleton, a journeyman tailor, who, with his associate Reeves, set up for great prophets, pretending, as it is said, to have an absolute power of saving and damning whomsoever they pleased; and giving out that they were the two last witnesses of God who should appear before the end of the world.
