SUCTASGUR, a town and fortress of Hindustan, province of Allahabad. The fortifications were formerly more considerable, and defended the passes of the western hills. They are now neglected. It is the capital of a small district, which was included in the collectorship of Benares. It is fourteen miles south of the fortress of Chunar.
