BOTTOMY. A cross bottomy, in Heraldry, terminates at each end in three buds, knots, or buttons, resembling in some measure the three-leaved grass; whence, in Segoing's Trisor Heraldique it is termed croix treflée. It is the badge of the order of St. Maurice.
