DINAGEPORE, a town in Hindustan, the principal place of the British district of the same name within the jurisdiction of the lieutenant-governorship of Bengal, is situated on the left bank of the Purnabubah river, 260 miles north of Calcutta. The town has no public buildings deserving particular notice; but it is clean and well watched, and contains a population of 30,000.
